Tumors can appear rather quickly or slowly over time and can present in all shapes and sizes. Not all tumors are malignant though some are. Malignant tumors are considered cancerous whereas benign tumors are not. Some common malignant tumors include: melanomas, carcinomas, and fibrosarcomas. Below is an example of a carcinoma and a fibrosarcoma, respectively.

Tumors in general can be very scary. As a society, we are conditioned to always think "cancer" when it comes to tumors but in reality, it isn't always the case. Don't get me wrong, unfortunately, some tumors are indeed cancerous. That's why we (EPD) recommend a yearly dental exam and cleaning along with home oral preventatives. Keeping a close eye on our furry friends' health can help strengthen our bond with them and improve their overall quantity and quality of life.
